Professionals and Legends Kick-Off

Dubai – 12 March 2010

The Professional Tournament kicked off at the Emirates Dubai Football 7s today with Arsenal winning 2-1 against Feyenoord.

AC Milan followed playing against Leeds United and it proved a very entertaining game between both teams’ Youth squads, Milan took an early lead through Conti but Leeds hit back strongly in the second half led by a very impressive Andy Robinson who capped an influential performance with a cracking 20-yard equaliser into the top corner to earn Leeds a deserved point.

Elsewhere in the Professional section, Olympiacos of Greece beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0 and Glasgow Celtic drew 1-1 with Danish team FC Brondby.

The Legends Tournament started with an Impressive AC Milan outclassing Glasgow Celtic by what could be considered a flattering 3-0 score line, all the goals came in the opening 6 minutes of the match including two from Paolo Di Canio. After that Milan never looked threatened.

Next up, Liverpool comfortably beat UAE 1990 by 3-1 with goals from Jason Mcateer, Mark Walters and Don Hutchinson despite having Jason Mcateer sent off midway through the second half for dissent following a colourful response to the Emirati Referee’s decision to give the UAE team a free-kick.

The next match ,Manchester United v Chelsea, provided the first injury as Chelsea goalkeeper David Blanchette dislocated his finger stopping a shot.
This was an evenly contested game with United taking the lead through Ben Thornley, Chelsea equalised through Clive Wilson only for United to snatch the winner in the second half through Russell Beardsmore.

The final game of the first round of Group matches saw Glasgow Rangers beat Arsenal 2-0
